Aloha, Honolulu! By Annabelle

Tuesday, February 26 – Saturday, March 2

We came to Hawaii on an overnight flight from Australia, and we went back in time! We left Australia on Tuesday night, and we arrived in Hawaii really early on Tuesday morning, THE SAME DAY! It was really crazy because we got to do the day over again. My mom took a picture of the the sun coming up as we got close to Hawaii.

When we got to the airport it looked old and dirty and not well kept, and we had to wait in a really long line to get a bus to the other terminals. We went through a passport scanning machine and then talked to an immigration officer, and when we could finally get out of the airport, we got our bags and got a taxi. We stayed at the Marriott with my mom’s hotel points, and once we got there we all were so tired and jet-lagged that we just took a nap.

After the nap we walked along Waikiki Beach, it was really amazing and pretty. We saw some hula dancers along the beach. The weather was so lovely.

We wrote in the sand and saw the sunset over the beach and then went to get dinner at a really good burrito place. After that we were still pretty tired so we just went to bed.

The next day we got up really early because we were still jet-lagged. We hung out for a bit and then we went on a big hike up to the Crater of Diamond Head. It was a pretty good amount of stairs! It was so awesome, and we saw a beautiful rainbow.

On the third day we took the bus to Hanauma Bay and went snorkeling. When we got there we had to watch a movie about the reef and how it was damaged by lots and lots of people visiting. Now they have a limit of people who can go in each day, so it’s getting better, but it still looked pretty dead. It was still so fun and we got to see to sea turtles which was so cool. It was also super cold, so we didn’t get a lot of swimming time but it was still amazing.

The last day was a good day for a rest. Me and my sister did handstand contests in the pool, then we hung out in the hot tub talking to lots of other people. My mom got new running sneakers, my sister got new flip flops and we made flower leis.

For dinner we went to the hotel bar and listened to a band and then walked to the beach and watched the sun set. It was so weird being back in America where we didn’t have to force our brains to learn another language. But I got Cheezits and Chex Mix, and that was awesome because I hadn’t had them in SO LONG.

In the morning we checked out and got to the airport for our flight to Los Angeles and then to Florida for one day and then on to South America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you enjoyed my blog on Hawaii!

Bye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
